- Main Biopsy Indication: Chronic renal dysfunction
in 72% of patients.
- Timing: Biopsies occurred at a median of 26.3
months post-transplantation and 15 months after signs of renal
impairment.
- Frequent Findings: Arteriosclerosis, acute
calcineurin inhibitor toxicity, thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), and
acute tubular necrosis.
- TMA Correlation: Strongly associated with combined
mTOR inhibitors and calcineurin inhibitors.
- ESRD Risk Factors: Postoperative dialysis,
proteinuria >3 g/g, and glomerulosclerosis >4%.
- ESRD Outcome: 34 patients progressed to ESRD
approximately 20.1 months after biopsy​
